






Angola is a country of contrast. Since the civil war ended in 2003, the country has established a substantial oil industry, and it is obvious that the standard of living has improved for a lot of people. During 2002 - 2007 Peter visited Angola five times, and there are great improvements in the society in only the last five years. However, there are still large contrasts, which is seen on the pictures of poor housing for the less fortunate compared to the tall buildings under construction for oil-related industry and business. And, if you look closely at the beach picture, you will see that there are hundreds of small and primitive houses with no power or sewage. It's election year in Angola, and the Government will develop the beach into a tourist resort, so they have promised that each family living at the beach will be provided a free modern apartment when they are relocated. So no there is a steady increase of people wanting to live at the beach...
